Ketevan Shalamberidze
Ketevan Shalamberidze is a painter based in Tbilisi, Georgia. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Art (1986) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from I. Nikoladze Art School (1979), and has exhibited internationally for over three decades.
Her art stems from a direct engagement with reality — from the impressions she gathers in everyday life. Light, scent, colour, and sound become the space in which the work is made, where her imagination meets an innate need to make art. From reality, she takes the elements that form character, concept, and mood, and gives them a new dimension of existence.
Her practice moves between easel graphics and large-scale painting — a continuous dialogue between the discipline of print (etching, lithography, linocut, monotype) and the live, intuitive process of working in oil and acrylic. The works on paper hold immediate, spontaneous impressions: fragments of urban architecture, figurative forms, and expressive abstraction become signs and symbols. That exploration of line and surface feeds directly into the canvases, where colour emerges as the primary language.
